Dry DS suddenly leaking?

DS is 4 soon. He potty trained gradually, st his own pace, and was fully dry (including nights) by summer this year and no problems since (unless poorly).

In the last few days, he's suddenly started leaving going to the loo a bit too late and 'leaking' before he gets there - but stopping himself and finishing in the toilet or potty. He's just wet enough to need fresh trousers, which then sets him off apologising... We've tried prompting him, but he insists he doesn't need to go and short of forcing him, it just leads to an argument/meltdown/soaring stress levels, which I can't imagine help...

In the last couple of weeks he's also woken up wet a couple of times ( but suspect that's down to MIL giving him too much black currant juice... Hmm)

Any ideas...?

Possible UTI?

Maybe... Is there a straightforward way to check that, or is it a trip to the doctors?

DS went through a period like this. It lasted a few weeks and stopped. I think it's a very mild regression?
