Does this sound right?

DD is 3 next week. Not potty trained. I've made a few half hearted attempts but assumed she wasn't ready and left it.

Each time we try, I get the feeling she doesn't know how to wee. Is that possible? When heavily bribed she will sit and really try, but starts straining out her bottom as if she is pooing. It's like she doesn't know which bit to push/release. If left nappyless she will eventually wet, and looks absolutely mystified about where it has come from/what has happened.

Does this sound normal and a case of things just not clicking yet, or should I be concerned about her bladder control? I should add, her nappy is dry every morning so I think there must be a degree of control there.

She is perfectly on track in all other developmental areas, just this.

Just keep going, she probably isn't used to the sensation without a nappy on

Thanks. She is currently painting naked in the garden. She has just done a wee on the bench coach she was sitting on, but at least she said "mum, I've done a wee" this time.
