Back to nappies?

Been potty training my 2 yr 8 month old for a little over 2 months. She's doing reasonably well with pees, she'll ask to go no problem, the odd accident, but that's to be expected I guess. Poos on the otherhand!! She's not interested, she'll run away and do it in her pants, she has done a few in the potty/toilet, but only if I've caught her mid squeeze and out her on. She is really pleased with herself when she manages, but 9 times out of 10 it's in her pants.

I really thought she was ready, but starting to think not, she's doing well with pees though and don't want to take a step back if not necessary. But equally I don't want it to be a big issue and cause her to have toilet problems. Anyone else had this problem, what did you do??

My eldest used to ask for a pull up to be put in when she needed a poo. It tool almost a year after being completely dry and in pants before she finally started pooing in the potty.

I just went with it to be honest. She got there in the end. Pants and potty all day, at bedtime it if she needed a poo then we swapped into pull-ups.

She used to like to hide when pooing and also liked to be on all-fours. It's this position that made pooing on the toilet hard for her.

I think that's part of the problem, she stands up to poo, so really struggles to sit on the toilet (or potty).

Can she not just tell you when she wants a poo and you whip a pull-up on her?

There are some schools of thought that don't like that. I'm not sure how you can force the issue if she is refusing, but it's not a reason to abandon toilet training completely.
