Where to start?

My LO has just starting to alert us when he needs a poo by tapping his nappy, it's pre-poo then he tells us again when he's done it. He still seems little, he's 17 months.

Is it too soon to start?

Ooh I came on here to ask the same. My DD is 18 months and has just started tugging her nappy and saying poo when she needs or has done one. This morning she said she needed a poo but did a wee, so she has awareness of needing both.

It seems so young to start potty training, but I don't want to ignore her telling me in case she stops and I miss the boat. Watching for replies with interest!

18 months is on the young side, but no harm in staying at home for a day and giving it a go. My DC2 showed the same signs of being ready in February when she was 22 months, but I ignored it as the weather was really bad so no chance to go outside, and I was also concerned that she was really a bit young so we'd have accidents for months. Annoyingly it's now summer and she is 2 yrs 5 months and seems to be less ready for potty training now!
My DC1 was v stubborn and showed no interest in removing nappies until I bribed her with a trip to her favourite theme park aged almost 3. She potty trained herself in about 2 days.
From my limited experience, the later you leave it the quicker they potty train, therefore saving yourself lots of accidents and days spent at home. But others may disagree!
