So tempted to just stop telling her it's time for a wee!

DD has just turned 3. We started potty training properly 9 months ago, and although she had accidents, more often she would hold on for hours at a time. Poos were another story, took her a long time to understand, and kept doing them in her knickers. Finally got the hang of poos a few weeks ago, now all in the potty or toilet, hooray! Hardly any Wee accidents now either, but the holding for ages has got worse. I'm so frustrated at having to tell her it's time to Wee ( when it's been 4 hours and she still hasn't been). As she's now mastered poos on her own, shall I just stop reminding her to do a Wee and see what happens? I've been trying to make sure she goes as she did get a UTI at the beginning, but pressuring her and bribery is not going to work. Help!

Is she drinking lots of fluids? This will increase the frequency of wees and give her a nudge that you don't have to. Saying that my dd can go quite a few hours without having a wee and it hasn't harmed her.

My DD has a bladder of steel. Just prompt her to go in the morning, before food (so no interrupted meals!) and before you go out.

Thanks for the replies. DD doesn't drink a lot - any tips for upping it appreciated! I think she just naturally doesn't need to Wee as much as some children, and doesn't drink loads so therefore doesn't need to go often. Had a chat with her this morning and told her she was in charge of wees. She hadn't been by 10.30 so had to get her to go before we went out. She then went til 4pm! She was playing outside so we just took the potty out there as a prompt, ans she went, no probs. Having said that, she did a massive Wee then, so makes me worry she knows how to hold it, but not when to go! Either that or she is just being stubborn, she is busy playing and is not going to stop to sit on a potty! (Why is autocorrect making me spell Wee with a capital?!)

My son is strong willed and telling him to go to the toilet won't always work. Setting the time on my phone with a unique ring tone makes him drop everything and ruin to the toilet without me having to say a word!
