Naked vs clothed

Hi,

Started potty training my 2.5yr old DS yesterday. He is managing great when naked to use the potty, however, as soon as I put a pair of pants or trousers on him it's game over.

Am I training too early? Should I persevere? With or without pants? How can I help him understand?

TIA

Bumping as we just started training my 2.4 year old dd. She has no accidents when bare bottomed and will happily take herself to a potty. Put pants on her and she wets them but holds on and gets herself to the potty or comes and finds me with a damp patch on her knickers.

We have decided to stop bare bottoms and go with the pants on all day so she gets used to warning me and realising that urge to go before wetting herself

We're having the same problem. Bare bottom he's fine, but for some reason pants makes him feel like he has a nappy on. Maybe you're right RedRobin and we should stick with just pants.
