I have a 2.5 yr old and am really trying to potty train her but she is just not interested in the toilet or potty! After she has done a poo she tells me and then says she wants to sit on the potty...when previously I have taken her to the potty before she starts to poo she stops and then won't poo for days and gets very uncomfortable.

How can I start the process without scaring her?

Also I live within a family that keep telling her she's naughty or dirty for pooing in her nappy but I just don't think she's ready!

Please help!
Thanks X

Perhaps she's not quite ready. If it's causing stress to you and her I would leave it, try again in a month and see if she's more interested. Don't worry lots of children aren't toilet trained until a bit older than that

Also you need to politely and firmly tell your family to back off. Remind them that by saying this to her they will make her less receptive to potty training and that you and she will deal with it when she is ready.
