Gina Ford. Do we have progress or should I give up???

Started pt 2 y/o dd on Monday. Been following Gina ford. Done stage 1 for a while, started stage 2 on Monday.

This is how it's gone.

7:30 wee on potty. Told to go
7:45 poo on floor
9:00 - 13:00 In nursery in nappy
14:00 wee on floor
15-16:00 wee while napping in nappy
16:10 weed on sofa

Tues
7:30 asked to wee on potty
09:00 - 13:00 In nursery in nappy
13:30 started poo on floor moved to potty and weed
Nappy for nap weed
No wees till bed

Wed
7:00 asked for potty and weed
8:50 started wee on floor stopped when asked and finished on potty
9:20 started poo on floor moved to potty and weed
10:15 started wee on floor stopped when asked and finished on potty
12:25 wee on the potty
14:30 - 16:30 nap, nappy was dry
16:30 wee on the potty

I'm a bit concerned that she's not asking to go, except first thing when she wakes. Will this come? Or should I give up.

She has nursery 3 mornings a week, sent her in a nappy mon and tues as I wanted to full days with her to start properly. Friday I'm going to send her in without.

Is she young two or nearly 3? She doesn't sound ready to me...especially if she isn't asking or telling at all.

Once you start, in my opinion, as long as the child is ready you shouldn't put them back in a nappy until sleep times. It's confusing to be asked to wee on a toilet then put in a nappy for 4 hours.

She was 2 two months ago. She's started asking now and as been having either one or no accidents for the last few days so I'm really happy with her progress :)

That's really good well done your dd. As long as they're communicating about it and getting it right quite often then it's definitely worth persevering!

I think the nappy thing will be confusing her. If you're potty training then no nappy; flipping between the two will just send the wrong idea.

Pottering she only wore a nappy for two nursery sessions so that I could have her days off and we could do it properly

And it hasn't seemed to confuse her. She wears her nappy to bed but usually wakes with it dry and asks for it to be taken off to use the potty

When I started ds around that age I used pull up nappies for daytime as they were easier to use when out and about. I only went to pants when he could tell me he needed the toilet and could hold on until we found one. He was day trained by age 2.

In my experience (two boys) they are either ready or not ready. I didn't do much to "train" either of mine. The eldest ran around naked in the garden for a few days and the youngest just copied his brother. Both refused nappies at night a few days later and that was that.

It shouldn't be hard. She's still very young.

Don't get caught up in stages. Honestly, ignore the books and let your daughter guide you.

She should be prompting you, not the other way around.

Also, don't worry about night time training, that takes much longer and you can't do much to hurry that!!
