10 month old getting too small for nappies

My 10 month old son is in size 6+ nappies and they are getting tight! I have tried all brands and they all seem to be the same, i dont really want to use reusable nappies. He is a healthy happy little baby and loves his food so as a result has thunder thighs and is generally big all over and quite tall i think too.
If anyone has any suggestions id be very grateful :)

How heavy is your DS?
Size 6+ is for over 15 kilos, and my 4 year old is only just over that size!

I'd hesitate to say it could be your fitting technique, but I think it could just be.

I did use washables as well as disposables, and to be honest, they are easier to fit. What are your concerns about them?

Websites catering for children with special needs will have nappies in toddler sizes and beyond. You could also try underjams/pyjama pants which are basically pull ups for older children who are not yet dry at night. You can buy these in the nappy aisle in most supermarkets. On the expensive side though.

You'll probably find your DS changes shape when he starts walking so hopefully the 6+ nappies will fit again soon.

How heavy is he? I have an old packet of Huggies here and I'm struggling to think of them fitting a 10 month old. Are nappies getting smaller?

He is 28.4 lbs and yes my 2 year old is in the same size nappies as him too. They still fit around his tummy ok but his bum keeps coming out and they are quite tight on his thighs too. Yes he is close to walking so i am hoping it will be ok when he does start walking properly but i just wanted suggestions incase he doesnt loose any weight :) i have started looking At reusable nappies but tbh the whole process scares me a bit lol

Rather than finding bigger nappies, I would be taking him to see a Dr. I am the last person to be hysterical about a baby's weight, but he is miles off the top of the scale for his age.

Your 10 month old weighs the same as my 2 year old. 2 year old is in size 5 nappies. Though I believe pull up styles are bigger.

Has the HV mentioned his weight?

My 10 month old weighs 18lbs and is on the 50th centile.

See this is not what I'm understanding. These nappies I've got go up to 66lb, size 6. There's no way they would be too small for the weight you're saying. They shouldn't even fit the waist.

Either something's not right putting them on wise or I agree about getting him checked out.

While I'm on if anyone would like these Huggies I'm quite happy to pop them in the post.

I think the issue with the bigger ones is that they are designed for an all over larger child - taller, and therefore less rotund than the OP's baby.

DS2 was very chubby when he was younger, but he still only hit 21lbs at a year old - his thighs used to come bulging out of his nappy in the most deliciously cute way.

DD has an enormous bottom and thighs, she is still only in a size 4. It is gappy at her back so needs taping

Happy too slithy they're no good to me just sitting in the cupboard. There's at least 10 in the packet left.

Don't worry about postage just give me an address or PO to send them too and I'll sort it.

Hes got hv check next week so will ask then :) i know the weight on the nappies should cover him but because hes only a baby hes shorter than say a 2yr old which im assuming those size nappies are aimed at. His legs and bum have got rolls on rolls and thats more the problem im having, the tabs sit under his tummy to accomodate his legs

My nearly 3 year old very chubby boy (elastic band look round the thigh!) is in 5+. The 6s are way too big for him. Possibly a technique issue or maybe he has a specific build that the manufacturers don't cater for?

I always found that the weight specified on the nappy packets bore no relation to whether or not they fit DD. She wasn't an overly chunky baby (50% percentile), but she was always in a bigger size nappy than her weight suggested.

Have you tried different brands? Perhaps it could be the specific cut of the brand you are using, so maybe a different type would fit him better?

Reusables aren't really that scary, they go on and off like a disposable, and can be adjusted to fit. There's not even that much extra washing!
