Day 6 - 2 wee & 1 poo accident. Persevere or give up?

DS turned 3 a couple of weeks ago and we started potty training on Monday. Sometimes, he has asked to use the potty and has gone and done a wee or a poo. On other occasions, he has asked to use it, sat for a couple of minutes, got off & then had an accident 10 minutes or so later. Otherwise, we're putting him on the potty every 30-45 minutes or so but he rarely does anything then other than, possibly, a dribble of wee. He can go for 2hrs+ between wees.
Do we keep going? We've been at home lot over the past few days but need to get out & about next week.

I don't agree, purely from my own experience I would say maybe give it a break for now. My son had two failed attempts at potty training - one at 2/10 and one at 3 and both sounded just like yours (well a bit worse on the first go as he ended up with a urine infection from holding it in). In the end we gave up and let him tell us when he was ready. I would ask every few days 'nappy or pants?' and eventually at 3.5 he said pants. It took about 2 days of staying indoors and then he had cracked it and we didn't have to stay at home anymore.

I personally don't think it is the end of the world if you have an accident when out and about. Most people who have had children are understanding of the reality. I just took a couple of pairs of trousers and pants and a roll of kitchen roll and a spray. He did wee on the floor of a little supermarket once which was a bit mortifying as I didn't have a change for him as it was a month in and I wasn't prepared but even they had a roll of paper and spray and I sorted it, he got carried home in my arms. It's a pain but is short lived. Especially with boys they can have a wee in a drain if necessary, pants down, quick wee and sorted. In the car, I would just put on a pull up or in a situation I was nervous about like a friend's house. It isn't instant always but at his age it is likely to be pretty quick. Mine is 3.5 and still has the odd little leak but soon realises and goes to the loo alone now. Honestly I would not expect miracles, you will need to keep reminding maybe every hour or so and sometimes they don't manage but sounds like yours is really getting the hang of it.

Today has been worse. Reminding him every 30 min to use the potty, sitting him on it once an hour & all we've had are two massive wees on the floor. Just off to the woods as an accident there shouldn't matter! He hasn't done anything on the potty or loo now since 11am on Saturday.

Hmm sounds like he has stage fright. In that case, I too would lay off a few more weeks.

Blimey. We are 17 months in and DS can have two or more full bladder accidents a day. Other days he will be bone dry. Whenever we go out we have to take three changes just in case. Poo accidents have always been rare for him but we had one only this past week. Just remember, this too shall pass but it takes time, perseverance and patience.

Just keep going and go out. Just make sure that wherever hes wearing will contain poo.
