Public Toilets

Any one have issues with their little one's using them? My DS (22 months) seems to freeze when we walk in to one and point blank refuses to use them. We end up having to find a corner in the street or up a alley to do the toilet . Any one got any tips to try and overcome this? I thought it was the hand dryers at first but we have been in a few with no hand dryers and he Is the same. He has no issues using the toilet at home or in other peoples toilets so I'm struggling to find what the issue is.

I think they are just a bit dark and enclosed and echoing if others are in them. It's taken my ds a while to get used to using them. The bigger, brighter and cleaner the cubicle the better though.

He's much better using them now he can wee standing up, guess he doesn't feel as vulnerable as when sitting down.

He is very little yet. Sorry no real tips. The same things made life awkward for me for the last 6 months!

The only things that helped were doing it more often, with no pressure to actually 'go', and talking about it all before going in, getting used to it. They all get there with time but it's frustrating.

I was just thinking that maybe we could take him with us when we are going to use the public toilets just forhim to get useused to them without actually having to use them. Im sure he will get there in the end, its just frustrating when you have to find somewhere in public for him to go when he decides he's not using the public toilet. I always think people are frowning upon me letting my son do the toilet outside
