No progress with the poos

DD is 4yo, and a late potty trainer. She's finally doing all her wees in the potty or the loo and is dry at night, but she still refuses most toilets outside the home and just holds it.

She also refuses to poo anywhere but in her pants. It's been several months of this, and I'm really fed up.

Is there any way to help get her to the next step? Reception is just a few months away and I'm terrified she'll still be pooing her pants then, or refusing to use the toilet at school even for wees.

Ds is 4 and a half and has only just started pooing in the toilet. I was at my wits end! We bought a book called 'Liam goes poo in the toilet' and read it together. Ds agreed to try pooing in the loo but when push came to shove (so to speak!) he asked for a pull-up and got distressed at the thought of going on the loo. I'm afraid this is where I got tough. I made him stay on the loo, despite the tears. He was there for 15 mins, with both of us crying at one point! Then suddenly he stopped crying, asked if I would cuddle him while he pooed and then he pooed in the loo!

I was so thrilled! Ds got big cheers and a trip to the shop for a treat! We phoned daddy at work and grandma to tell them the news!

Unfortunately we had to repeat the tears the next day but for only a couple of mins this time. After that, he started going to the loo of his own accord. He was so proud of himself!

It's tough but remember " this will pass." He won't be heading off to uni with pooey pants! Good luck!

A few years ago now, but we had the same. I had to cuddle DS (age almost 4) whilst he sat on the toilet. I had to read out loud Poo Goes to Poo Land (MANY TIMES) from my phone and also try and rub his tummy. We got there eventually! It will pass... you need patience! We did wave our poo good-bye too, and pretend we were feeding the toilet.

I brought a kids mag with stickers which could only be read in the toilet with DC taking as many stickers as they liked
