back into pull ups?

Ds, 3.6, has been in pants for about 4 months now. After a couple of earlier false starts he initially did well with potty training and is now using the toilet.

But about 2 months ago he started pooing in his pants and is still doing so almost daily. Sometimes it's so soft we have to chuck the pants. Sometimes its fairly solid. He does it at nursery and home, and when out/at grandads.

So now dh wants to put him back into pull ups probably because he deals with most of the accidents and I'm concerned it'd give him mixed messages. But I can understand his point.

any advice/similar experiences? We've got a doctors appointment to rule out medical problems but are at our wits end with this.

Have a google of toddler diarrhoea.
Seriously restricting fruit intake for us made a big difference to consistency of poo, and that transferred across to getting more in the toilet rather than in pants.
If you can stand it, I'd keep with cheep pants, and bin without looking back (supermarket pants were cheaper than a nappy). Good Luck!

Hmm, interesting; thank you addicted that could explain a lot. we don't have drinks other than water and milk but his fat content could do with boosting and fibre too. He does eat a lot of fruit though... will try cutting out Water overnight and upping fat and fibre. And supermarket pants! :)
