DD is 2.5. She has been asking for the potty for a while now and in the last two weeks has done one wee a day successfully on the potty. Takes all her clothes and nappy off herself and will sit on it until she does a wee. This is nearly always mid morning. The rest of the time she's in nappies, which she seems fine about. We haven't pushed it at all, just left the potty In the bathroom and she's taken the interest in her own time. Wees have been done when she's taken the potty into the lounge and watched tv. This morning she said she wanted the potty, stripped off as usual and sat on it for about ten mins, then did a poo. Great! She was a bit confused but seemed fine with it, I gave lots of praise and said she must be proud to be a big girl etc, and showed her how we flush down the toilet. She was happy to have a nappy back on after that.

So my question is, should we go for it now or wait a bit longer? I was going to wait until she was telling me she needed a wee/poo and also when it was a bit warmer!

She sounds ready and motivated! I say go for it! I'd been thinking about waiting for warmer weather too (baby 2 on the way - didn't want 2 in nappies) but DD 2.4 just announced a few weeks ago that she didn't want nappies. I thought 'well you asked for it!'. Couple of days of occasional accidents and a couple of chilly al fresco potty moments but she's been accident free for 2 weeks now (including 2 5 HR car journeys!) and out of nappies at night. It's a ruddy revelation! Good luck!
