Argh I hate this.

Hate hate hate it. dd is 2.3 and desperate to try her potty all the time, she says I need a wee wee, sits on her potty and nothing happens. She then will wee in the bath/on the floor/down her leg etc. she tantrums about the potty all the time, and if she is supposed to be doing anything else at all (like right now having a bath) she screams about the potty. It is just awful we've had days of this and I can't get anywhere with her. Any ideas?

Just to clarify, I don't mind her having accidents and I really want to encourage her but she doesn't seem to be able to relax on the potty to do the wee she wants to do. She's desperate to do it and the tantrums are because she wants to and she can't sit there all day...

How long does she sit on the potty without doing anything? My DS has not long started potty training and will ask for the potty, sit on it and not do anything, then other times do a pee or poo no problem. I often wonder if he just feels it coming quite early on but just not ready when he sits on it. On other occasions he asks when I am busy just to get my attention which can be very frustrating because I don't want to just ignore him in case he does actually need it.

Where is your potty? When we were first training I had ours in the living room, he would sit for ages reading books or watching cbeebies. A wee would usually find its way out, I think the distraction helps.

Im going through setting similar with my 2 and half year old boy. we are getting there slowly but he can't just pull his pants down and go, he has to take all his clothes off. so frustrating when we are in a rush to get brother from nursery. I can't even leave him naked because inbetween sitting on the toilet he has to have clothes on. His choice lol

Can you just hide it until she's a bit older?

I'd be tempted to hide it too. If she's not ready to relax and pee then she's potentially not ready to potty train. It's good that she likes the idea, but maybe if it's hidden for a few months then the novelty will still be there when she tries again later?
