Just started potty training today. He has been saying for ages "mummy I did a wee, I need my nappy changed" but now he is in pants he wont go! I ask him if he wants to sit on the potty and he just says nope! Or if he needs a wee, again just says no. I put him in a nappy for his nap, he wee'd in that but back to holding it again. (Well am assuming he is holding it as its been hours)

I've stopped asking him to go and just reminding him "if you need a wee or poo, remember to sit on your potty and you'll get a sticker!" He does understand, his understanding and speech is really good but I think he's just being stubborn. What to do?! Don't want him to make himself ill holding it

my DD did that so I had to just cut out the nappies totally, once I did that took a couple of days and it was sorted. My dd was dry overnight already though prior to trying to potty train her nappy was dry when she got up in the morning.

If they don't wake up from naps dry then they aren't ready I think. That's what I have read anyway!

Ahh ok maybe I'll stop for a bit longer then. Confused though as I thought lots of children took a while to get dry at night

They are normally wet at night but able to keep dry during a nap.

If he is holding but still drinking enough and not refusing liquid, i would let him hold it but put a nappy on a set points in the day.
