Asking for a nappy for a poo?

We are on day 4, so far doing really well only two accidents poos on potty and loo.

This morning DS asked for a nappy to do a poo. I got him to sit on loo and pot but he didn't po and was still asking for a nappy - even asked for one of his sisters. So I put him in a nappy he pooed and now he's back in pants.

Any advice on how to handle? Did I do the right thing? Don't want him thinking he should always do poos in a nappy BUT don't want him withholding!

This is perfectly common and normal right up to school age, i wouldn't worry. Changing one nappy everyday is much better than him getting into a withholding cycle.

If you want to you could make him go to the bathroom when he has his nappy on and poor there, then once you change him get him to wash his hand. This way it will teach good habits while you wait for him to be ready.

My dd did this for about six months-we just went with it and she grew out of it eventually.
