Should I give up?

Looking for some collective mumsnet wisdom here Wink DD is 2yo, I wasn't planning on starting TT for a couple more months yet, but I bought a potty left it in the lounge, and she started using it last week when she was having nudey time after a bath. The next day I let her walk around with no pants on and she was using the potty for poo and wee by herself!

So I thought we'd just go for it as she seemed ready (has been telling me about poo/wee for a few months). I pulled out the peppa pig undies, gave her the choice on what to wear and have been rewarding potty use with strawberries. But as soon as I put undies on she seems to forget and just go in them. And today she seems to be purposefully peeing on the carpet (looks down and just laughs even if I suggest using the potty)

So am I reading things wrong about her being ready? Should I just give up and try again later? Or do I just need to suck it up and persevere! Wink

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It's a tough call she does sound ready with what you have been saying, I would give it a bit longer, you can stop and start at a later date I did with my dd as neither me nor her were ready.

I think the pooing and laughing etc is just novelty for DC they are getting used to a new situation and sensation, try not to get upset and do what you think is best. I think most parents feel like giving up, it is stressful. Good luck, keep us posted.

ThanksLilybensmum1 Smile DH has put her back in nappies this afternoon while I was out (he can't cope with accidents Wink even though I told him we were going cold turkey on the nappies!) I'm tempted to give it a couple more days just as I don't know when I'll have another whole week I can be at home (just so happened that we haven't had to do anywhere for the past 5 days!)

Am in a similar situ. My DD is2.2 and we started PT about a month ago. All was going well and then in the last week she's regressed and has done the odd poo in her pants and wet herself.
TBH I think she just forgets,so I have made a reward chart and she gets stickers when she manages to make it to toilet or potty. If she gets stickers everyday, she will get a treat. What helped today was her cousins who are 3 and 7 came round, and she loves to show them what she can do and it also is a motivation that they use the toilet and were interested In her chart.
Basically, you aren't alone! Have you thought about pull ups for outings?
God luck!!
