I'm not sure if I should be doing anything at this age bar lots of praise for sitting on it and carrying it about etc.

I have a feeling he may be seeing other children at his crèche sitting on a potty but as he isn't talking yet I can't communicate with him about it.

I bought one a while back to get him used to it and he totally ignored it. This last two weeks though he has started getting really interested in it. I assume this is normal and he isn't asking me to use it properly?

It's a sign that the concept is in his mind.

Try to sit him on it while wearing a nappy and praise him if pee/poo happens.

Then progress to sitting him on it hourly with a bare bum. If pee/poo happens then take it as a green light to potty train!

My 21month old is the same - I think we might have to bite the bullet and start training him soon. Scary thought!
