Poo too soft to potty train?

My DS is 2yr9mth and I think ready for potty training, certainly in terms of wee's which he has done with glee on the potty several times. My concerns are over poo's which he does so quickly and stealthily that there is no warning sign to pick up on and encourage to go to the toilet instead of nappy, so to date we have not managed a single poo on the loo. To add to this they have been very very soft since he started teething his final molars (I assume related) and I am told soft poo accidents can cause toilet training to be set back.

So I am not sure what to do really, wait until we get some poos on the loo before giving it a go, or just biting the bullet and doing it anyway. I'm not precious about him being trained by a certain date, but ideally I would rather it not be too much beyond 3yrs as it will impact on nursery choices. Advice?

Hello, Just seen your post (are you still there?!). Not any advice I'm afraid but hoping to get some/find someone to worry with!

I'm also worried about this with ds (2y 11m). He often, not all the time, has quite soft poos. It's obviously not diarrhoea but it's still a bit soft and it worries me that he will have accidents as he often doesn't seem to know when he's going.
I did mention to the doc one time and he said it could be food intolerance or it could be something called toddler diarrhoea which is completely unexplained and just goes away after a while.
He's been doing OK on going on the potty at the CM and home but it's only as a result of being put on there.
Is there anyone out there who can help a couple of mums in need?!
