Dd is almost 22 months.
She's refused nappies on and off since about 17 months but clearly had no awareness of being wet or soiled at the time. She just loved being bare at the most inconvenient times and the act of undoing her nappy. To combat this she eventually went in a combination of pants over nappy then pants over pull ups with tights or trouser/shorts and belts over the top. Layering up to stop the escaping.
She's had a potty from an early age, grabbed one from granddad as soon as she was sitting up. Loved sitting on it with no nappy on and sitting toys on it, and generally using it as a seat. Never done anything on it.
She's always sat on the toilet to brush her teeth morning and nights. At 19 months we were given a soft toilet seat for when she was ready to train which she delighted in sitting on from the moment she found it, doing the odd wee on the toilet and laughing at funny mummy and daddy for clapping.
Last month she found a winnie the pooh toilet seat and got really excited. We brought it and has been sitting on the toilet every time she goes in the bathroom.
A few weeks ago noticed that she was trying to poo and asked her if she wanted to use the toilet and she happily did. After that she used the toilet for poos at the same time everyday when offered. No cleaning up poo until cutting a couple of teeth upset her tummy!
Her language has suddenly made a great leap and she talks about pee pee, poo poo and toilet and no pot. Will say yes or no when asked if she wants to use the toilet when offered.
This week she's suddenly started to wee on the toilet more and show awareness that she is doing it. Yesterday she was dry all day except for when she woke up from her nap. Today she's been dry all day and doing wees on the toilet every 2 to 3 hours.
Probably really over thinking it as I wasn't planning to introduce pants until after Christmas. But as we have pants here that she loves not sure if I should let her try in them or just keep on with the pull ups!
