He's been 'potty trained' indoors for about a month, after the first week he could wear pants I took him to a friends party and he's kinda scream at me or grunt and I'd take him to the potty it was great.

Then it went downhill, he did a poo in his pants and I had to change him in the corner of next as he was shouting POO, since then he's wee'd in his pants and every time he goes into a public toilet he just screams!

I've tried giving him stickers, minion haribo's clapping cheering everything all he does is scream. Since then he's wee'd in his pants and I thought he wasn't ready but the last two days he's had pants on and he's told me "wee wee" and taken them off and gone for a wee so he can do it.

I brought him a travel potty and he will go in that if he's in someone's home but as soon as we go outside to the shops etc he goes in his pants

What am I doing wrong?

It sounds like he's not quite ready. Most children need more "toilet language" to be successful quickly. If he is grunting rather than saying "Mummy I need a wee" then it would suggest that it's all a bit too soon.

Have a read of the "No cry potty training solution" by Elizabeth Pantley.

That was at the start he couldn't say wee wee or poo but he'd still use the potty without any accidents. Now he say's wee wee or poo and is completely fine when we're at home (he was naked for his potty training and now into clothes and he's still had no accidents.

It's just that as soon as we're out he'll do a wee in his pants instead of telling me despite having a travel potty or if I take him to a toilet he'll scream and won't want to go.

As I said he's completely fine at home, will tell me if he needs a wee and can't find his potty so i'm not worried about that.

In that case, I would use pull up pants for when out and about for the time being. I know that many people hate the idea of pull ups and see them as a backward step. But if it reduces the upset around toilet training when out, then maybe give them a go.

The key thing you want to avoid is your ds becoming upset about using the potty or toilet at home which can happen if he gets overly upset about his toileting in other environments.
