DS is 2.4 and a good communicator. I haven't been actively potty training but if we're at home he is nappy free and we have pottys dotted about.

He has not had a single accident in about four or five weeks now and will tell you when he needs to use the potty or just take himself off there for both wees and poos.

So I keep thinking "he's fine, he's ready" so I put a pair of pants on him...and without fail he pees in them within 5 minutes of wearing them!

So is he not ready and I just leave it (I'm aware he is quite young to start) or is there another trick?

My DS was just the same to start with. I just let him be naked at home all the time. Then put him in just pants as he would pee himself with trousers on. Eventually he 'got it' and he nearly always asks to go or takes himself now. We left training until he asked us to use the potty which was when he was 2 and a half (and about a week after his baby sister was born, as if I didn't have enough to do and he always needed to go when I was feeding!). We gave him a choc button for going on potty and also a star on a chart and at the end of the week, if he had enough stars we'd buy him a small gift (toy car, cheap bubble gun etc....). Nearly 4 months later the bribes have come to an end.
Of course now I've just written about how good he is he has announced with great joy "I've done a wee in my pants!".Grin Grin
