Am I being unrealistic?

Ds is 2 and a half and we are on day 9 of going straight into pants during the day. I thought he had 'got' poos but today he started to poo in his pants before asking for the potty and finishing on there. Wees he can sit on the potty and wee on demand but if left to him to ask he mostly starts to wee a little bit then asks for the potty when he feels his pants are wet and will then finish on the potty. I suppose I just thought he would have cracked it by now. Am I being unrealistic? I have tried no pants but he just seems to wee on the floor whereas the pants seem to help him realise that he is starting to wee.

He is doing pretty well for day 9.
My boy started training at 2and a half too he got the wee on demand quite quickly but only started consistently remembering to go on the potty (rather than needed to be reminded) about a month ago and he is almost 3 now. He had 1 poo accident this week (but that is his first for a couple of months).

Thanks for your reply. I think gina fords potty training in a week has given me high expectations! She also says that most toddlers are ready at 2 so I thought 2 and a half was late. Would you recommend just keeping on with the frequent reminders then?

That is we did. Cannot say weather it is the right way or not but seemed to work for us.

Thanks, mum set her alarm yesterday and he was happy to jump on once the alarm went off. He has had 2 accidents with me today tho when I was busy doing other things. Gosh it's a long process

It shouldnt be a long process at all and for day 9 and still wetting himself basically on a daily basis i would suggest that actually hes not quite ready. Perhaps go back to nappies and try again in a month, 6 weeks or so. And the same again if its not working. Mine were potty trained in 4 days each, with no accidents plenty of reminders, but they were also 6 months and 8 months respectivly older than ur little one. Dd has just cracked night time accidents 8 days nie (touch wood) with 1 accident and she is 3.9.

To be honest, I am getting quite fed up with it all. Everyone keeps telling me (irl) that he will just get it and he is doing fine. Might see how the weekend goes and decide after that. Everyone I know has trained their lo by two and a half so feel like I would be judged for putting him back in nappies.

Screw getting judged. He will be ready at some point, just mabye not yet. And we all become potty trained! :D
