Hello,

We started potty training our almost 2 and a half DS yesterday with mixed success. Yesterday he weed himself 5 times and 4 in the toilet. Today (it's still 4:30pm here) we've had 3 in the toilet and 3 down himself.

The thing is that 2 of those 3 were induced by crying Confused. Have we started potty training too early?

He seems prepared to us, he's aware when he has to wee or poo (although he still hasn't poohed), he will sit down on the toilet if persuaded but, he prefers to pee standing up on the toilet seat.... I blame DH for that gem... He has words for both, he has a slight speech due to being bilingual but we're almost certain that he understands. One of the crying accidents was outside and when we came back down after he was cleaned up, he took us to where he weed himself, looking concerned about it.

I should also mention that i work full time and that i'll only have tomorrow left, tuesday he'll be with the nanny who brings her own child and is pregnant. I'll only have holidays in december, but won't that be too late? Especially because we're being pressured by the potential nurseries to have him nappyless from january onwards.

I think loosing control when crying is quite common, Think about all the muscels he is moving in his tummy when he crys, forgetting to "hold" is understandable, the control will come eventually.
