Potty Training Frustration

Well I have no idea what I am doing with this potty training malarkey. I started on Monday and its been a nightmare everyone is telling me I am doing it wrong. My daughter is 2 and a half so no is the ideal time to get her out of nappies.
Im already fed up instead of using the potty she is going to the toliet in her pullups even though I keep sitting her on the potty every hour or two. shes only used the potty properly 3 times all week.
Ive tried not using pullups but feel I need to because I have carpet and I have already cleaned it scrubbed it dozens of times because DD isnt grasping the potty she just thinks its a toy. knickers without pukllups arent working as she hasnt stayed dry in them longer than an hour. She cannot tell me if she needs to go to the toilet as still babbles mostly so it a guessing game really.

To be honest it it doesn't sound like she's ready. By all means keep the potty around, offer her to sit on it before bath etc and give her lots of praise if she does.

I don't know anyone who's managed potty training while using pull-ups, I think it just feels too similar to nappies for them. We kept pull ups for car journeys etc and night times. I think she needs to be in pants, or bare bottomed around the house in order to get the idea.

But if it's not clicking and it's making you stressed, I'd leave it for another couple of months.

Sometimes you just need to leave it for a couple of months and retry.

Do you have a garden that she can run around naked in? Even if you do retry later it is good to give her some naked time every day (preferably after she has a big glass of water) so she can learn about the feeling of needing to pee and how pee comes out (with no pressure).

In terms of the accidents and pull ups. Pull ups will just prolong the process (and probably in the long run mean more accidents on the floor).
You may need to accept the fact that there will be a few accidents on the floor and get it steamcleaned when the process is finished.
