ettiquette for toddler weeing in public?

DS is recently potty trained. all's going well but when he needs a wee we have to be quick about it. DP thinks it's ok to just have him wee into a corner in the park or in the street. i'm not a big fan of that but not really sure what to do when speed is of the essence. obv we wouldn't let him wee in a playground or a place where people are walking all the time. what do you do in those situations?

I made mine wee into drains or into bushes away from the main drag in parks if the alternative was that they'd wet themself.

My thinking is that dogs pee all over the place, so a bit of well-targeted toddler pee isn't going to upset anyone. People would rather see a parent dangling a little child over a drain than see a toddler wet through and upset.

Against a tree somewhere out of the way usually. We also have one of these, which is handy for train journeys and places where trees are not readily available. If it is anywhere that I know is going to be a nightmare eg travelling through London in the rush hour, I will stick a nappy back on.

This is a problem for us at present. Am coping with potette in quiet side streets, park, car parks etc. DS is v unreliable though and we have had a few accidents. Staff in homebase/ waterstones were very understanding though!!

We had a Pottete potty, which was very handy. You can buy them via Amazon, in Toys'r'Us, Mothercare...

Behind a tree or something if necessary, but so long as they go before you leave home and as soon as you arrive somewhere it shouldn't be too much of an issue. Just get into the habit of going every time you leave/arrive somewhere with a toilet!

The pottete is handy to have in the back of the car, but if your DS can't hold himself for a few minutes to get to a toilet he's not really potty trained and you may as well stick to nappies when he's out and about.

we do have a potette but sometimes forget to take the bags along i think i'll just learn the location of every loo in the area by heart and then make a dash for one of them. thing is, i don't even know how long he manages to hold himself because i haven't dared to try yet, iyswim.
