We've been potty training DS, who will be 3 in a few weeks, for just over a week. Going fairly well, he is v excited about Big Boy Pants and we've gone from lots of changes of trousers to being more or less dry.
Poos not going so well. He has always pooed a lot - at least once a day - and they've always been really squidgy. He eats masses of fruit and is still bfed a couple of times a day, which apparently has a laxative effect.
We actually started catching poos before we made the switch to pants - if he started pooing and told us then would sit him on the loo to finish off, though sometimes would take more than one loo trip to get it all out. He always seemed happy enough to poo on the loo though, was always very excited ("I did it!" etc).
When we moved to pants, we had a couple of misses when we had to sprint to the loo, whip them off and finish off on the loo. One was at my mum's, which was fine, but the last was at the park, when he suddenly froze, squatted slightly and told me he was pooing. I hoiked him into a fireman's lift and ran through the park shrieking "Don't poo! Hold it in!" until we could get to the public loos. Finished off on the loo and all seemed fine.
That was Monday morning though and he hasn't pooed since. He doesn't seem distressed or anything but this very unusual for him. Whenever he does a pee I encourage him to try to poo too but he says he doesn't need to. I have offered all manner of bribes.
When do I start to worry? And how can I encourage him to poo?!
