So, she can but she wont!

When the mood takes her she can be dry all day, everything is done in the potty, she knows when she needs to go etc. But she is very strong willed and some days she will just say "not today thank you" and either pee on the floor, or in her pull ups (she will put them on herself unless I hide them!).

Being wet or dirty doesnt bother her.

We have tried stickers, treats, shopping for new undies, books etc but it doesnt work. If she doesnt want to then she wont, but she is starting nursery in September and needs to be dry.

She is 3 in a week and advanced for her age in every area but this. I suspect that being the youngest of 6, she likes being the baby when it suits her (but will be a big girl when it suits her too!).

Any ideas?

Carry on and ignore ignore ignore the behaviour you don't want, as in all areas. Keep mopping up, get her to change and wash herself down- not punitively, but as in " if you are wet you will get sore without a wash, dry and dry knickers so we need to do it now" way. She'll get fed up with the interruptions to what she is doing pretty fast.

Hide the pull ups for bed time. Terry nappies/old towels in car seats etc maybe even covered with a bit of cheap fleece as a "cushion" so she doesn't get the " sitting on a nappy I can wee now" message.

I can see the big girl/baby thinking. I guess you have to make the "big girl" a better option by stealth really saying "well big girls in knickers can do X and babies can't" you are forcing her to make a choice she isn't sure about.

She will realise that no nappies is the way forward. I think she is totally in control from what you have said and I guess you have to quietly not let her control you with this!

Our DD is almost identical OP. She'll also be 3 in a couple of weeks. We are 9 days into potty training and have made zero progress from day 1. She doesn't seem to give a monkeys about wetting herself. It is SO frustrating. No advice just solidarity.

Thanks both.

We are ignoring it in the hope that she will do what she has done with everything else and copied her sisters. She is so desperate to be like that she copies them so I might get them onside and encourage her.

Thanks for the support Domestic fingers crossed for us both! If it is any comfort, there were days when I despaired that any of mine would get it, but at 23, 16, 12, 9 and 8, none of them are still in nappies, which means I was wrong when I said I was sure I would be changing them when they were at work :o
