DD5 Nappy leaking at night

I currently use Pampers size 6 nappies for night time on DD who is 5. She is a deep sleeper and a heavy wetter and just recently she has been waking up with wet bed sheets where the nappy has leaked. Can anyone give me some advice on how to stop the nappies leaking?

aldi mamia nappies size 6 are great, I used them with my 6 year old.

I found that with dd1 she started to leak when she got to the stage where she was dry all night and just did a large wee when she woke up. The nappy couldn't cope with it all in one go. I found going in 10-15 mins before she usually woke up and sitting her on the potty (no upstairs bathroom) worked and soon she was able to be dry all night.

I have this problem with my DS, 3 or 4 times a week he would be soaking wet, pyjamas, bed etc. For over a week I have been putting him in an Aldi nappy (much cheaper), with a pull up over the top and touch wood we've had no leaks for 10 nights now. The pull ups can be used again the next night, if they don't seem to have anything in them. As they're pull ups, they're not that bulky and he isn't complaining of being uncomfortable, so I'm sticking with that for now.

Use cheap incontinence pads or maxi sanitary towels as boosters inside the nappy.

We use a night time pull up on top of a 6+ nappy. Wasteful, yes but the pull up seems to stop any movement which in turn seems to stop leaks.

Thank you for your replies, they are all very helpful.
One other question, do any of you have a 5+ year old that still does their first morning poo in a nappy? The first thing my DD does when she gets out of bed is poo in her nappy and she usually does this before I get up.

my 6 year old has only recently stopped using the nappy for pooing, it's very very common.

Thanks Piratejones. Did you stop him pooing in the nappy or did you just let him stop when he was ready?

He stopped on his own.

Here's the proud parent thread i made when he did it.

Thank you for sharing the thread Piratejones. I think I will let her stop when she is ready.
