I am currently potty training for the 10th time, only this time its different as its with my own child. Of course as it was something I felt reasonably confident with due to nannying experience, my daughter has decided to throw me a curve ball. She has been holding onto her poo and I don't really know what to do. When we started training (Monday) She had no wee accidents and a small poo in her pants, I didnt make a fuss, just put some clean pants on and said next time we'd try to use the potty/loo.
By thursday she still hadnt done a poo. She said she needed the potty whilst in the garden and when she sat down a smallish poo came out. The look of shock on her face was a little shocked but I said well done etc and gave her a lollipop as promised. She then kept saying she needed to do another later in the afternoon but despite repeated attempts to sit on the loo, the potty and have a nappy on nothing happened. Until 2am when she woke me shrieking and she'd done a huge hard poo that must have been rather painful. I changed and comforted her and she went back to sleep promptly. She has eaten loads all day today and keeps getting skidmarks in her pants and saying she wants to go nothing has happened, despite again using the loo, the potty and two nappies changing her mind over what to use. She saw me get upset as I'm shattered and it had been over 1.5 hours of her trying, and I'm just so worried this is going to be a 'thing' that of course I'm making it into a thing by being so stressed out about it. Its heartbreaking that she clearly needs to go but is holding onto it. We've had no accidents with wee for two days or any problems with that.
I've read other threads about using lactulose etc, she has a very rich fruity diet and normally no problems with going at all.
Do any of you have any words of advice?
Thanks
