He'll sit on the potty, naked, for ages

Ds1 is 2.6 and knows when he has pooed/weed. He's been showing signs now for a few months that he's ready but ds2 was born in Jan and we wanted to wait until he was used to his brother.

we've bribed him into sitting on his potty, he sat there for about 30 mins and no wee. He's just stood up off the potty. Do i encourage him to sit there a lot?

DS(3) is exactly the same. I have gone potty training cold turkey with him today after a false start after christmas.

So far today he has wet his pants at 10am and has done nothing since - he has now been sitting on the potty quite happily for an hour and a half with no results. No quite sure what the right thing to do is!

Don't make them sit there for ages. That is cruel. Get them to sit and try every ten minutes. If they don't go after a minute, they can get up and carry on doing what toddlers do. Also they should not be wearing a nappy in between - pants or nothing. In my opinion.

If you get nowhere after a week, give up and try again in a couple of months.

I didn't force him, he just sat there watching Thomas the tank engine.

we've had one accident and now the potty is being used as a tunnel for his trains

I didn't force mine either, he was more than happy to sit there.
