Night time wetting after being dry for months

I'm really hoping someone can help me with this one. My DS is 3.3 years and has been out if nappies for 4 months, dry at night for 3 months. During this time he's only been wet at night about twice. Until this week. For the past 3 nights he has woken up totally soaking and crying around 1am. Does anyone have any ideas why this could be happening and what I should do about it? Do I go back to pull ups at night? Hmm TIA.

Is he urinating normally during the day and well in himself? Only asking as dd also 3.3 was dry at nights for a few months then at Christmas wet her bed a few nights running. Turned out she had a urine infection. I didn't put her back in nappies, instead I woke her to wee a few times in the night. Was sorted quickly once she got antibiotics though and she's been fine since.

Yes he is peeing fine during the day and seems to be well in himself. Maybe I should leave a sample in at the doctors to get checked anyway. Thank you. I never thought of that.

Meant to say he's a bad sleeper anyway and always wakes during the night, and I always take him to the toilet then aswell. But on the very rare occasions he has slept through, he has been dry the next morning.
