Me and my big mouth...

DS (2.5) recently started talking about wanting 'big boy pants' - I think as hes moved up a nursery class and his friends now tend to use the potty.

Thinking that him poo-ing on potty was a while away I --rashly- promised he could have big boy pants if he did a poo on the potty.

Which he then achieved, that very evening after bathtime, with a huge grin on his face and a demand for 'big boy pants now mummy'

So he seems to be ready, and since I'd promised I have now ordered some bright bots training pants.

The thing is, I'm 39 weeks pregnant and timing does not feel ideal.

Does anyone have any words of advice or encouragement? Other than to think before opening mouth and making promises

Not sure if this is encouraging but my Ds1 took it upon himself to start wearing big boy pants just after the birth of DS2.. I'd planned to leave it a while but decided to follow his lead. Peeing came quickly, no issues. But 6 months down the line he still hides away to poo in said big boy pants.

Guess I need my own thread! Congratulations and hope it's a lovely birth.

(Btw that really was supposed to sound encouraging. I thought the timing wasn't ideal initially but really was fine and think our 6 month pooing thing is extreme. Your DS seems to get it!)

Thank you BrieMonster... that is encouraging actually!

We'll see how we go Hmm...

Ds1 did exactly the same thing!!

I still remember breastfeeding ds2 whilst trying to lift ds1 onto the loo!! But all was fine - infact, as we were in the house more for the first few weeks of ds2's arrival, it worked out pretty well.

Good luck!

My mother promised my sister a big girl bed since she was begging for one and my parents couldn't afford it at the time. She thought it would buy her some time.

Sister had potty-trained herself by the next day.
