I'm sure this is pretty common (hopefully) but can anyone help. DD is potty training at the moment - doing really well at home - asks to do a wee or go on the potty. Will poo and wee quite happily at home. Trouble is she is very shy and doesn't talk much at preschool. She didn't go for the whole 3.5hrs today until I got there and took her to the toilet. She went straight away so had obviously been holding it in (I'm sure that sort of control will come in handy) but don't want her to do it all the time!!? The teachers kept offering her the toilet but she wouldn't go. She is more than capable of asking but is too shy to say so.
Anyone overcome similar, is it just something that will come with time?

My son is exactly the same. He is nearly three. He will go at home before we go to kindy (he does three x 3-hour sessions a week), and will go at kindy at drop off or pick up if I ask him or take him, but won't go if the staff ask him. In a recent development he will go to the toilet with them but then says he doesn't need to do wees etc. I am hoping that he will gradually get more confident.

So far, he is only doing the short sessions but I will be looking for work soon so probably looking at three full days in daycare which I am a bit worried about re toilet situation. Hope your daughter gets there soon enough. The usual advice about not making it a big issue will no doubt help.
