Our dd is still in nappies. They are becoming a real problem, they are so full sometimes that they leak etc and very smelly so it's very embarrassing if we are visiting family/friends and need to change her.

I've tried letting her walk around with nothing on and a potty in the room. Tried bribery, tried a seat attachment on toilet. Nothing seems to work.

She does do a wee at nursery and for a while was doing a wee in potty at home. Anyway this all seems to have stopped. She now seems to also be holding her poo in and then going a lot after a few days.

Today at dinner she said 'poo coming' and when we suggested toilet she started crying and became quite hysterical. I've asked her why she doesn't like the toilet and she tells me because she hurt her finger. I've never witnessed her hurting her finger and she often smiles as she says it.

In addition we have an 8 month dc. I did think it could be regression, but still? I always try to be very laid back but DH is becoming quite uptight about the situation which doesn't help.

Any tips or advice please? TIA

Woops.
3.3yrs and hes still in nappies and has no recognition of when he needs to go unless hes constipated but due to meds he leaks a lot and doesn't understand it

But cant really compare him as he has SN
But didn't want to read and run.

The toilet might be a little daunting.
Could you get a small potty. Something that she likes.
My sil got her ds a disney cars potty that made an engine revving noise when flushing lol.

Sorry I should have said, I also have tried potty too. I have the 'my a carry potty'.

Sorry to sound silly but what is SN?

Don't force it.. I have 4 kids and started to potty train when they were at least 3 yrs.
She needs to be ready.
Your 'embarrassment' of her nappies seems a bit OTT in my opinion. His often do you change her nappies? Maybe you should change them more often.
Getting uptight will not help.. Put her back in nappies, change them more often than you do.. And revisit it in a few months. There's no rush.

Thanks for clarifying misslurkalot.

I change nappies every 2 hrs but for some reason, lately, they have been very smelly!

Thanks for tips.

How much is she drinking? Sometimes no2's can be god awful if they're dehydrated. Or teething! Is she sore?

MissLurkalot · 24/12/2013 00:00

Every 2 hours is impressive!

It's a real struggle to get her to drink. She'll have no end of juice but not after. We don't want her to constantly drink juice so try water mainly. That might be the problem. She says she is sore a lot when she needs a poo and cries and grunts sometimes.
