Completly lost on the whole potty training.

DD is 2.9. We tried potty training a few times during the summer and allthough we had some progress with wees we came to a stalemate with poos so we gave in and went bavk to nappies again.

Last week dd asked for her nappy off and took herself off to the potty for a wee great! We did a lot of no nappy time the following few days whilst at home but was very unsucessfull with dd outright refusing to sit on the potty and also dening she had done a poo in her pants (she wasn't bothered about being messy at all), then getting very upset at a wee accident Me and dp both decided to leave potty training for a while probably until after christmas. This week however she keeps asking to have pants on and I don't know what to do as she is still refusing to sit on the potty.

Dd is also sleeping terribly at the moment which doesn't help any upset.

Could you maybe compromise and go for pull-ups when you go out and get a padded inset seat and steps for the loo?

I know people don't recommend pull-ups, but worked for us because it meant we could go out without me/small child getting stressed. I did do the pants inside pull-ups for a while too - which, as with your DD, worked for wet, but not so much for soiled...

It was a while ago, but my DS1 was similar - he just refused to put a nappy on, wanted to wear pants, but had accidents (particularly dirty ones).

I just kept a potty in the room on a towel. Reminded him that if he wants to wear big boy pants, he has to use the potty. Then put dirty pants in a bucket of soapy water, and chick the whole lot in the machine at the DBS of the day.

Took just over a week, and he ended up dry and clean both day and night straight away.

But he was determined. If he wasn't bothered, I would probably have kept him in pull-ups.

How about getting some training pants (rather than pull-ups as they feel more like a nappy)? Does she have any interest in going on the regular toilet? DS1 didn't want to go on the potty at all, ever. You can either get a seat insert or encourage her to support herself by leaning on the seat with her hands by her sides.

Thanks. We have tried the pull ups with pants a while ago and dd just wet without noticing or being bothered. We also have a seat for the toilet which she will ask to sit on occasionally but isn't keen at all she asks to get down nearly straight away.

Even though dd isn't bothered about a poo accident she was getting quite upset about the wees, I don't want her to get stressed out over the whole thing. I am hopefully seeing the hv today so will see if she has any advice.
