2.5 year old potting training

My ds is 2.5 and I need to crack down on potty training, when I take his nappy off he goes for a wee on the potty and we put it in toilet etc but apart from at night when I take his nappy off and change it before bed that's all that happens potty wise, How did you start potty training with your little one ? Hints and tips please I feel like ive fallen behind.

I've potty trained 2 girls at 2.5 by stopping nappies in the day cold turkey. I took a week off work and that was the worst of it over, although it takes longer before they are totally reliable. I kept putting nappies on them at night - DD1 became dry about 6 months / a year later and I stopped nappies them. DD2 is only 2.7ish, v.wet nappy every morning, so will carry on and see what happens.

I'm sure there are other ways, but that is what I did. HTH!
