Bought 30 pairs last night. He's 3 next month. I'm not forcing him so letting him run around the house with nothing on. Please don't tell me I'm falling at the first hurdle!

Who's decided it's time to potty train - you or him?

30 pairs?????!!!!!!

matana · 25/10/2013 10:27

He's ready. He's done quite a few wees on the potty in the evenings when he's had no pants on. Bought 30 pairs as think he will struggle with poos which have always been copious, several a day is regular. I got them cheap so I can chuck them away if too dirty.

Oh and he's now wearing them without a fuss.

Good luck! I potty trained both my DSs at the same age. Have you got lots of chocolate buttons in? I started with a button for just sitting on the potty (you could even give him one for wearing the pants), then for doing something in it (two for poos!) and once they were in the habit, just one button a day and finally none. Each time it only took a week or so, it feels like a good age to do it.

Mind you, DD now 2.5 may be a different kettle of fish. She doesn't want to wear pull ups and she doesn't want to use her potty. Hmmm.

Yes got pick n mix sweets. I thought of stickers but they just don't motivate him! He chose "special sweeties' instead of chocolate.

yes, stickers don't cut it when it comes to the really big stuff, I find Grin
Special sweeties are good. I find that just looking at chocolate buttons makes me think of wee and poo now, which is quite effective for weight loss. Perhaps i should train DD on crisps, my other weak point...

Result with the special sweeties! 2 wees on the potty and no more accidents yet. Just waiting for Mr Poo to show his face...

well done minimatana! It took mine a couple of days to master the poos, so don't worry if it doesn't work first time.
