18mo dd seems to know when she has done a poo.

She will say 'poo poo' and if we're at home, will even bring me the changing bag!

My eldest daughter potty trained at 2.4yo. I am in not in any hurry to potty train dd2 but what does her awareness mean in relation to potty training (if anything? )

TIA Smile

It says that she doesn't like wearing a poo filled nappy, and I can't say I blame her!

Does she do it round about the same time every day? If so, you could try sitting her on the potty and offering a reward for poo in the potty not in the nappy.

Kids gain control over their bowels before they can control their bladder though, so you may not be able to do full on potty training yet. Though having said that DD1 was out of nappies by 2 and DD2 earlier.

DD was about 20 months when out of nappies day and night so at 18 months its not not all that unusual.

DS on the other hand took years... and years.. and years...

I'll be observant regarding the timing of soiled nappies. Like I said, I'm not in a rush; I just dont remember dd1 giving any cues like this until she was over 2yo (and was very quick to train). Thanks for the advice, both

my mum tells me that I was potty trained at 17 months. she remembers exactly because my grandma trained me while mum was in hospital having my sister.

We've just trained my DD at 2.2yo with no trouble at all. One day we said no more nappies and that was that. Almost no accidents at all. I'm convinced we could have done it months ago, but we were in no rush. Like your DD, she would tell us about poos from around 18 months.
