Hi all, my dd 2.7 was showing all the signs of being ready to potty train ( aware and telling us when doing wee's/poo's in nappy, showing interest in the toilet/potty, staying dry for periods of time without a nappy on etc...) so we began pt 2 weeks ago and she's been doing fairly well she's not telling us on her own when she needs to go yet but if I ask ' do you feel like you need to use the potty dd?' She will say yes if she needs to no if she doesn't.
So today she had her first day at nursery in her knickers and wee'd 3 times and did a poo in them Shock my initial feeling is that she's just not used to using the little toilets/pottys there as I did specify to her key worker that she needed reminding. Anyway I was confronted with the nursery manager basically telling me she wasn't ready and to send her in nappies next week Hmm it really knocked me and made me question my own parenting skills she was so condescending! Like I had no idea what I was doing despite the fact my ds went there too and was potty trained at 3.4 no problem. So I thought I'd ask some lovely mn'ers what they thought; should I leave it and try again in a couple of months or persevere and tell the old boot lovely nursery manager thanks but I know better?

She's in the process of being ready, but it is a process and can take ages, generally speaking the later u leave it the easier it is. The nursery worker probably meant to save u a load of unnecessary stress and self imposed pressure to rush it now when u really don't need to. I wouldn't worry about it. My ds is a bit older, he will use potty at home if he has nappy/pants off, but hasn't got concept of pulling them down yet. No way I would leave house without being nappied up! Don't worry it will all happen, no rush.

No need for her to be condescending and make u feel crisp though. :-(

Not crisp! Crap!! Stupid phone !

Thanks slothlorian I think your prob right she's just not quite there yet I just know she's normally better then 3 wee's and a poo in her knickers! And the condescending talk put me on the defensive! I'll give her a little while and try again Smile

That's rubbish! DD's nursery were really supportive, she's terrible at asking then for the toilet, so they just used to take them every 20 mins or so. That went on for a couple of months, and now she'd fine.

I think go with your instincts, the nursery are there to support you and follow your wishes.
