I'm due second baby end of this week. DD is 2.3 and for the last few months has been asking to use the toilet for pee pee she takes her nappy off I lift her on she wipes her bum jumps of flushes the chain and washes her hands. Up yo now she hasn't used it. I wasn't encouraging potty training because I'm pregnant and I was going to wait for New baby. There is also an old potty hanging about that she has been doing same routine in about once a day. Tonight however she took nappy off Sat on potty and did a wee Wee. I couldn't believe it and she was thrilled and I congratulated her etc. But now what do I do? I bought books on it and I haven't read them. Need mumsnet advice please

Personally I'd hold off. When you are potty training you need to be hands on and act at short notice, if they say 'wee now' and you can't lift her onto the toilet or help her with tricky clothes for the potty or wipe her when she has done a poo it will be quite demotivating for her?

We'll that means discouraging her to use the potty and toilet she gets really cross if I don't help her on the loo. Would that not back fire too and demotivate her?

I'd do it slowly, so let her go on the toilet/potty as and when she wants but keep the nappies/pull ups (pull ups easier to get up and down than a nappy) on for a wee while to minimise accidents

Ok I think that's my instinct too lovepower maybe it's a one but I doubt it. Thanks for
