Ds is 2.5 and has been potty training for 11 days.
Days 1 & 2 were typically disastrous (some hits, lots of misses) but by the end of day 2 he was asking for the toilet and most of day 3 (only 2 accidents which weren't his fault really) so I thought he was starting to "get it"
Day 4 was an utter shambles and since then it has been hit or miss again - a couple of accidents a day. Only 1 poo on the potty so far. He wee'd all over the floor this morning, repeatedly.
He only occasionally ASKS for toilet/potty (like I can count on one hand since pt started). Most of the time its me putting him on there every hour or so and he more or less wee's on command.

Should I keep going to day 14? When he did his sole poo, it was one of the rare occasions he actually asked for the potty.

I am offering treats/bribes with little interest from him. He has VERY good communication skills and understanding.

Pre potty training he was frequently asking for the toilet but not actually doing anything on it. Now he doesn't ask but will wee if put on.

Sorry for the long ramble!

I have given up today. Lifes's too short to be constantly mopping up piss and washing pants.

Just come on to say I'm in the same boat. Dd is 3 and two months and will go on the potty if bribed, but if I don't cajole or prompt she just wees wherever she is. When I ask her why she didn't use the potty, she just says "I didn't want to".

I'm right out of ideas. This is about our fourth attempt now. All her friends are trained but she just doesn't care.

Aaaaaaargh.

he's stropping about having nappies on again but maybe reverse psychology will work????

Worth a try!

We had a bit more success this afternoon when next door's big boys came round to play. She loved 'performing' in front of them. Little exhibitionist.

We're into 3rd attempt now and seem to be getting somewhere with DD2.6.

But my first attempt was very similar to your experience and gave up after week 3 as she seemed to be making progress then seemed to lose it and would just pee everywhere.

I agree with pettyprudence, though.Wink

We've been training Dd 2.5 for the last two weeks, it's only since day 10 approximately that I think she's completely got it! Good luck x

I gave up on day 11 tatty - thinking now I should maybe have kept going???? His childminder is going to keep trying with him today and give him a sticker chart as he likes to copy her gd! I have already tried the sticker/chocolate bribes but maybe she will have more luck.

How do I make him tell me he needs a wee?????

Just be thankful he agrees to wee when offered the potty. DS is 2.10 and until a week ago just refused point blank to have anything to do with it. Even with bribes! We were at our wits end.

We made the huge mistake of using pull ups instead of going cold turkey, until last week when there were none in the bathroom when he got up. To my absolute amazement he agreed to pants, and has literally not looked back. He refuses to sit on the potty but wees standing up! No accidents.

Poos on the other hand.....

pettyprudence · 04/09/2013 11:28

we are in pull ups now but only because lidl were out of nappies! We initially did the cold turkey method. Its frustrating because I know he CAN do it. He has done it, but only for 12 hours and then he seemed to think "feck this, I'll just piss on the floor instead"

My Dd just started telling me she needed a wee or poo! I think she likes the novelty of toilets and the potty 😃
