From potty training to independent toileting?

DD is nearly 3 and we potty trained about a month ago. She is doing fine and there are few accidents now. But I don't really know where we go from here. She happily uses a toilet, sometimes without a training seat. We go in and wipe and make sure that she washes her hands. How do we get to her going independently and when should we expect her to be independent? Obviously school requires independence and luckily that is 2 years away.

Not sure, we are just starting (DS is 3 in October)...all I have to suggest is that she may well become independent on her own TES and in her own time. My DS has done this with eating, dressing Eric...anything that initially needs help. Sorry I've no other ideas!

Sorry 'etc' not Eric!!!

Ds1 was independent straight off. Ds2 was trained 6 months ago and still wants me to pull his pants down and help him wash his hands. At school he does it independently. He is a little bit lazy he likes me to carry him and feed him yoghurts. I'm hoping he will grow out of it.

I meant nursery not school.

Eldest is 3 1/2 and has been trained 18 months. We help with buttons, and wiping if he asks but otherwise independent.
2 year old is just trained and we still go with him.

I think around 3 eldest started doing most alone but that was after a fair while of trained but us helping as he just got all in a twist

We found tight boxers better than loose as they don't get rutched up above jeans!

How do you teach them to wipe?
