Does too many wees mean she's not ready?

My DD is 2.1 and today is our first day of potty training. I didn't plan on starting this soon, but she's been going in the potty before nappy changes regularly for a while, and understands what the potty is for, very keen to use it, gets very excited when she goes etc.

Thought I'd give it a go while she is so interested.

The morning hasn't been too bad - but am wondering if she is going too often? I've been encouraging her between every 20-30 min to sit on the potty and she seems to go in clusters. She'll have several small wees, then maybe 45 min to an hour later its the same thing. Since 7:15 she's gone 10 times in the potty with two accidents + 2 poos in her pants not the potty.

Does this seem excessive? Does it mean she's not ready to hold it or is it just because its the first day? Also, is it normal for them not to want to do a poo in the potty at first? She just went both times in her pants without any warning etc.

I don't want to perservere too long at this age for fear of putting her off. Gah! Am so confused! Help!

if she does not know she needs a poo then she is not ready for training. I would carry on using the potty as before and possibly move to pull ups so she can go herself if she needs a wee. ds was there for wees well before ready to train for poos.
