Well just that really. Have a 3yo DS very unhappy about sitting on the potty or toilet to poo. Been going for 3 days with pants only (prev used pull ups but nursery said too confusing). All poos so far been done in pants when I take my eye off him for a minute. Today he is 'witholding'. Very frustrating.

Doing all the usual, keeping as calm as poss with accidents, encouraging successes, read poo goes to pooland, etc. Just ordered toddler toilet seat and step just n case that helps.

Wees mostly fine. Poos not. Complicating factors- he was getting so distressed when I sat him on the potty/toilet when I noticed him starting to strain, he was actually pinching and scratching me. Also I have a 6mo DD who has just learnt to crawl and pull herself up and she keeps toppling over and screaming or finding things like cat food to put in her mouth when I am with DS trying to reassure him about doing a poo on the toilet/potty.

I dont think he'd mind going back to nappies, but i want to make sure we have given it a proper go. Family/ nursery are also a little judgey-pants about him not being PT yet, unfortunately.

What do you think? Was thinking of trying until end of week. Depending on amount of screaming/ Scratching/ constipation! Oh dear.

Also done star charts and have multipack of choc buttons in loo for when he does a poo in potty/toilet.

Hello. I hated potty training. Seeing as your DS is doing wees fine i would keep going unil the end of the week. My DD also find it hard doing poos in potty although wees were fine in there. We just persevered and within 2-3 weeks of starting potty training she was doing poos in the potty too.
Keep at it you are making progress x

I would alwqys give up the moment it seems to be even a little bit stressful.

I think people shouldn't start until the child actually asks.

Have spoken to someone at children's centre. DS went to bed with pull up on and did poo in that. I cried downstairs. She said it shouldn't be this stressful and we both need to be ready (I'm really not, he's prob not) and I'm not 'failing him' (my words).

DS should be keener. So pull ups nappies tc are fine with wees on potty until he shows some desire to do no 2s on potty and we are both more relaxed about it.
