He won't pee :(

Ds is 18 months, he hates wearing a nappy, as its been so hot he's mostly been naked for the past 3 weeks!

He knows when he wants a wee and poo and will tell me before hand, as he won't do it without his nappy on.. Now we have the problem trying to potty a train a toddler that won't go anywhere but a nappy.. And will cry and hold it until he physically can't anymore if I don't get a nappy on quick enough..

Any ideas how to get him using the toilet would be a huge help! I keep putting him on the toilet as he hates hates hates his potty but he just sits there looking cute and gets off for a wee

He's so young I'd just put him back in nappies/pull ups.

He takes them straight off until he needs to go then will come and let me know, I always put little boxers on to keep the nappy from running down his leg and when he around the garden I put just boxers on and he will pee in them and then cry when he realises its running down his leg!

Have you tried a reward chart and rewards if he does it? Our daughter is going throught this at the moment and she wouldn't wee on the potty or the loo for the first couple of weeks and then we just turned a corner some how! She is a little older than your son (2years and 2 months) but she prefers the loo and loves the stickers an the high fives etc when she has done it.

Have tried loads of praise and rewards, stickers and buttons! But he still won't wee and still refusing to keep a nappy on unless its just to have a wee or poo then straight off .. Seems like such a waste of nappies as I'm going through a ridiculous amount!

My dc did this, in the end I refused to put nappy on, firmly sat him on potty and distracted him with an iPhone game. As soon as he did that first wee in potty the fear was over.

We are on day two. Wees and poos in potty, tells me when needs to go. Two little dribbles as was focused playing but rushed to the potty when realised.

I felt horrible making him sit on potty but he was so proud when he did it and got over the fear.

Think that's what I'm going to have to do, I was trying earlier but he was getting tired so didn't want to push him and end up with a toddler having a breakdown!

Good luck! Sounds as if he is ready just needs to get the first potty over. Mine is 3.3 and I'd had enough of the refusals . I didn't let him get distressed over it, just didn't give in to the nappy demands and distracted him. 18months is still very young but if he won't keep a nappy on you don't have much choice 😀
