Night-time wetness

DD (3.5) has got into a habit of taking her nappy off at night, usually in the time between being put down and first falling asleep, but it seems that she sometimes wakes in the middle of the night and removes it.

The problem is that she is only very rarely dry through the night, so we're left with a wet bed every morning.

She will happily have the nappy put on at bedtime but absolutely refuses to have a second one once she's removed it.

I'm currently lifting her for a wee just before I go to bed, and have tried doing the same when I first wake (she's a late sleeper so I usually wake a good hour or two before her) but by then she's wet.

Any help? We have a mattress cover etc, but it still means having to wash the sheets and pjs every morning, not to mention her sleeping in wet pjs for some of each night.

IMO she's clearly not ready to train at night, but if she refuses to wear a nappy what can I do?

Pull up pants?
Is she half asleep when she takes the nappy off?
Could you start a reward chart for leaving it on?

I would stop lifting her, as that can interfere with her starting to recognise the signals for needing to get up for a wee.

Thanks, I didn't know about lifting.

She doesn't like pull up pants. She has them at PILs' house and always comes back with a UTI or other problems 'down there'. That's another story not really relevant to this except to say that I think pull ups are a non-starter.

No, she's fully awake when she takes the nappy off, at least some of the time (I'm not always in the room).

A star chart sounds like a great idea; I will give it a go!
