my daughter has been potty trained since she was about 3 with no problems at first. then, she started withholding her poos for up to 10 days and we spent months with tears and hysterics and, finally, lots of Lactulose. Then, suddenly, she got it. BUt then, just as suddenly, she forgot it i've spent the last 4-5 months with her doing up to 6 pooey pants a day she withholds it and just does bits at a time. I've tried startcharts, bribery, being calm, begging....argh!!! it's so hard not to get angry...can anyone give me some hope or some more ideas ?
ps. she is still in nappies at night too....

i can totally sympathise, have a very similar dd, ( been like this since 18 months old) sorry no more tips other than keep going with what you are doing. rewards/praise etc.
our six year old dd has only just stopped doing this, (still occasional withholding mostly at school, she will only go at home)when she realised that she had grown when she was going every day. something finally clicked

Have you been to GP? You may need Moivcol which is a bit more effective for impacted faeces.

No tips I'm afraid but if its any consolation, my DS would only poo in a pull up nappy until he was nearly 4.

I made no fuss about it at all, no reward charts, no bribery, nothing, and one day he just decided by himself that he'd poo on the toilet.

I know how frustrating it is.
