From potty to big loo when out and about

Hi,
Just after some advice please. We have been potty training for about a week and dd is doing really well, just one accident since thurs. But...if we go out I put her in pull ups (I'm not brave enough yet to risk it), yesterday she asked to go to the loo but wouldn't sit on the big toilet. Is this what travel potty's are for, is it worth getting one? Thanks

We just have a small normal cheap plastic potty that fits under the pushchair or gets carried around in a plastic bag. My dd is a bit scared of strange big loos but is happy to use her own potty out and about. We're on week 3 now. I just tip it out (in public loo or in bushes if in park etc) then rinse & dry or wipe out with dettol wipe if not near a sink. I thought about a travel potty but dd is very particular and would quite likely refuse to sit on that too...!

Thanks, we have a few potty's dotted about so could use one of those but we're off on holiday next week and was just thinking about having to lug a potty around, but you are right, it would be Sod's law to buy one and then for her to turn her nose up at it!

Oh and to add another ray of hope, yesterday and today dd actuslly asked to sit on the big toilet when we were out rather than use the potty we'd bought with us Smile. Just took a bit of time to build up the confidence. Hope you have a lovely holiday.

You could take a toilet seat out with you, you get little padded ones for £2.50 at B&M so I'm planning to take that out and a pack on antibacterial wipes to clean it after.
